Day #1 Prayer Focus – Setting our Minds Heavenward

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4

Since we have such great security in the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, let us look to him with hearts of thanksgiving and minds fixed heavenward as we move into the New Year.

Therefore, please pray:

giving thanks to God who has “delivered us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son” (Col 1:13).
giving thanks to God who has made us alive in Christ and has “raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:6).
that the Lord would incline our hearts to his Word and keep our minds fixed on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise (cf. Phil 4:8).
that the Lord would guard our hearts and minds from anxieties and fears with the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (cf. Phil 4:7, 9).
that the Lord would help us to fix our eyes on heavenly rewards, future glory, and the imminent return of Christ in order to endure the sufferings and hardships of life.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:13).
